ICD-11 describes burnout as resulting from chronic, unmanaged workplace stress leading to exhaustion, depersonalisation and reduced efficacy.
We cannot change the challenges present in the NHS currently but we can change how we look after ourselves, challenge our thoughts and manage perfectionist traits to protect ourselves while we work.
I use CBT techniques in the management of burnout and have experience of treating and managing burnout in doctors in the NHS. I am currently researching the use of CBT in the treatment of doctors with burnout in my NHS role.
I have provided courses on burnout management and prevention via NHS Practitioner Health, Health Education England and several Deaneries across the U.K.
A full day Burnout Prevention Workshop would typically cost £1200, Half Day approximately £500. A 2 hour Burnout Recognition, Prevention and Intervention session for Educational Supervisors Webinar would typically cost £400. I am always open to discussing discounts for NHS provision of courses
All sessions are bespoke and can be delivered on line or in person (accommodation and travel costs may be charged in addition). Please contact me to discuss your needs and cost requirements.
Our study shows that the use of CBT to treat burnout in NHS staff is feasible, acceptable and shows significant benefit
